Panel - Who owns price? FP&A’s real role in pricing and packaging decisions, and what changes when finance has a vote instead of a spreadsheet
In most companies, price is set by product, sales or a dedicated pricing team. Finance gets the spreadsheet afterwards and is asked to forecast the result. That works until discounting drifts, packaging gets more complicated, or a price change misses and nobody can say why. This panel puts FP&A, pricing and sales leaders on one stage to argue out who should own price. Where does finance add rigor, and where does it slow deals down? What changed for the companies that gave FP&A a formal vote, and what did they have to give up to get it? Expect disagreement. The panelists won’t all land in the same place. Key takeaways: - The decision rights that give FP&A real influence over pricing and packaging - Where finance involvement speeds pricing decisions up, and where it gets in the way - What FP&A needs to bring to earn a vote on price, and keep it
