Sarah Syme is the VP of Accounting at Justworks, a HR technology company leveling the playing field for small businesses by providing payroll, benefits, compliance support, HR tools, and international solutions in one platform. Sarah leads Justworks’ accounting function, overseeing corporate accounting, financial reporting, financial systems, and tax. She focuses on translating complex financial data into clear insights for executive leadership and the Board. During her tenure, she has scaled the accounting team, supported an M&A transaction, and partnered closely with the CFO to shape financial narratives that inform strategic decision-making and long-term planning. Sarah began her career as a Senior Associate at KPMG and later led Etsy’s SEC reporting function through its 2015 IPO, where she helped communicate financial performance and key business drivers to external stakeholders. She has a track record of guiding organizations through growth and complexity by connecting financial results to the underlying drivers that matter most. Prior to Justworks, she founded an accounting and finance consultancy supporting companies including Zipcar, Knotel, and Fluent. Sarah lives in Brooklyn with her two daughters—future finance superstars.
